Dude this post is for Video recording from the camera app. It has nothing to do with Screen recording and screen recording is entirely different ( i have no issues with that). And yes screen recording happens at screens native resolution which is 1440p.
The fix, at least for me was to change where the videos were being saved. Go to "Preferences", and change the location from "Videos" to somewhere else. I moved it to a folder on my Desktop. Once you've moved it, try starting the recording again. I assume the issue is that the recording software doesn't have write permission to the default folder.
