What is CASOR? ASOR Canada (American Society of Overseas Research in Canada, or CASOR) includes all individual members of ASOR who live in Canada. It was incorporated federally on October 3, 1990 as a non-share capital corporation and registered as a charity by Canada Customs and Revenue Agency (Income Tax registration number BN 891631269RR0001).
With the last ASOR session that specifically focused on Central Asia occurring in 2016, and with this increasing interest among ASOR members in the fields of art history, archaeology, and history, the time seems right to bring back this session and foster a new environment of inquiry and collaboration to connect current scholars of the subject.
ASOR communicates news of the latest research findings in its publications and through lectures at its Annual Meeting, while its overseas institutes host scholars working in the Middle East. ASOR's book series and journals are aimed at a lay audience and specialist archaeologists, historians, and Biblical scholars.
